Pedego Element

Summary

Today, we’re checking out the brand new Pedego Element. Pedego has been a favorite of mine for years, and the Element is no exception. This bike stands out because of Pedego’s excellent dealer network, top-notch customer support, and innovative designs. Most Pedego bikes, including the Element, offer throttle on demand, giving riders the flexibility to choose between throttle or pedal assist.

At $1,495, the Element is very affordable, especially considering it comes in six colors and is available in bike shops, meaning no assembly required. Despite being a compact bike with 20-inch wheels, it’s packed with features usually found in more expensive models, such as a custom hydroformed frame with an integrated controller, 12-gauge spokes, and a multi-speed drivetrain.

The Element’s design makes it versatile and approachable. It’s great for teens, adults, and even petite riders. Its small frame size and low standover height make it easy to handle, while the 57.2-pound weight is manageable, especially if you remove the 6.9-pound battery. The fat tires (20 x 4 inches) offer a comfortable and stable ride, even without a suspension fork.

Safety is a priority with the Element. It features four-finger Star Union levers with rubberized edges for comfort and warmth, and 160mm mechanical disc brakes with motor inhibitors for reliable stopping power. The bike also has an adjustable kickstand, making it easier to store and transport.

The Element is powered by a 500-watt DAPU planetary geared hub motor, which provides plenty of torque and speed, and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain. The motor is integrated with the rear wheel, ensuring a smooth and efficient ride. The 48V battery provides decent range and can be easily removed for charging.

The bike’s design is thoughtful, with internally routed cables, a sturdy 30.4mm seatpost, and double-wall rims. The display panel is simple yet functional, showing power, speed, assist level, and more. It also features a USB charging port, so you can keep your phone powered on the go.

Pedego offers a one-year comprehensive warranty and excellent customer support. While the tires lack puncture protection, the bike is pre-wired for an optional integrated headlight and comes with bottle cage bosses. The Pedego Element is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fun, affordable, and versatile e-bike.
