AddMotoR MOTAN M150-P7 Review Summary
today we’re diving into the AddMotoR MOTAN M150-P7 folding electric bike. Now, this is the third bike I’ve reviewed from AddMotoR, and I also brought along the MOTAN M150 to showcase some variations for you.
The MOTAN M150-P7 comes packed with a 750-watt motor, a beefy 11.5 amp-hour battery, and front suspension, all for $1600. In comparison, the MOTAN M150 sports a 500-watt motor, a 10.4 amp-hour battery, and no front suspension, priced at $1300. The cool part about AddMotoR is the variety they offer, catering to different needs and budgets.
Aesthetically, these bikes pop! The vibrant orange color on the M150-P7 is eye-catching, though the black version has its own sleek appeal. The design isn’t just about looks; it’s practical too. The steel fenders, while prone to rust if scratched, are sturdy and less likely to rattle. However, I did have to bend the rear fender bracket to fit, which took a bit of effort.
AddMotoR operates as a direct-order company, meaning no physical stores. This model has its pros and cons. On the downside, any mismatched parts or components that don’t match the advertised specs can be a hassle. For example, I had trouble fitting a rear rack on another model. On the upside, cutting out the middleman generally saves you money, as seen with the competitive pricing of these bikes.
One notable aspect is the slight communication barrier with AddMotoR, which can make getting specific information a bit tricky. Nevertheless, the overall value and design of these bikes make up for these minor setbacks.
Now, let’s talk about the MOTAN M150-P7 in detail. This bike features 4-inch wide fat tires that are great for various terrains like slush, snow, mud, and sand. These tires provide extra suspension and cushion due to their larger air volume. Combined with the Mozo 100mm front suspension, you’re in for a smooth ride. The suspension can be adjusted for preload and locked out for efficiency on flat roads.
The fat tires also mean more surface area, translating to better traction but also more rolling resistance, which can drain the battery faster. However, the 20-inch tire height lowers the overall bike height, making it user-friendly for shorter riders or those who like a lower stance.
The MOTAN M150-P7 weighs in at 60.7 pounds, with most of the weight concentrated in the back due to the battery and motor. This can make the bike feel a bit back-heavy and cause some frame flex at higher speeds.
The 750-watt hub motor provides ample power, and the mechanical disc brakes (160mm) ensure decent stopping power, although they’re not as efficient as hydraulic brakes. The bike is equipped with motor inhibitors for added safety, cutting power to the motor when the brakes are applied.
Turning on the bike involves a two-step process: insert and turn the key, then power up the control center. The display is functional, showing battery life, current speed, and pedal assist levels. While I’d prefer a more detailed battery indicator, it gets the job done.
The battery is removable, which is fantastic for charging convenience and prolonging battery life by storing it in a cool, dry place. The front and rear lights add visibility, and the bike folds easily for storage.
Overall, the AddMotoR MOTAN M150-P7 is a versatile, fun, and good-value electric bike, perfect for off-road adventures and daily commutes. For the full write-up, head over to electricbikereview.com. Stay safe and happy riding!
